Local 498C Successfully Passes Contract with CSL Behring and Returns to Work
After seven days of tireless negotiations, Local 498C has successfully reached an agreement with CSL Behring, ending the strike that began on September 27 at 11:00 pm. Local 498C members will return to work tomorrow, October 5, and resume their vital roles in producing life-saving medicines. This achievement was made possible through the unwavering support of our community and the broader labor movement, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to all who stood by us during this challenging time.
The past week has been a challenging and emotionally charged period for our members, their families, and our community as a whole. The decision to go on strike was not taken lightly, but it was a necessary step in our pursuit of fair and just working conditions. Our demands were about the principles of fairness and dignity for all workers.
Throughout this struggle, the members of Local 498C demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our cause. We stood shoulder to shoulder, united in our conviction that we deserved better. We were inspired by the solidarity and strength of our members, who showed immense courage in the face of adversity.
The community played an instrumental role in helping achieve this favorable outcome. From local businesses providing food and supplies to neighbors and friends offering words of encouragement, Local 498C members felt your support every step of the way. Your belief in the importance of fair labor practices and workers’ rights buoyed their spirits and fueled their determination.
The ICWUC and Local 498C also wishes to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the broader labor movement. Unions from various sectors and industries rallied to support us, offering financial assistance, organizing rallies, and spreading our message. This solidarity reminded us that the labor movement is more than a collection of individual unions; it is a powerful force that can enact meaningful change for workers everywhere.
Once again, the ICWUC and Local 498C extends our deepest gratitude to our community, fellow union members, and all who supported us during this trying time. Thank you for your unwavering support.
