Dear Local Union Presidents,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am pleased to inform you that the ICWUC Executive Board has recently voted to offer new supplemental coverage options to our locals for their members. This decision reflects our commitment to providing comprehensive support to our members and ensuring they have access to valuable benefits.
Effective immediately: ICWUC members can now enroll in supplemental coverage approved by the International Chemical Workers Union. By offering this supplemental group coverage, every member can purchase coverage regardless of their health issues—no health questions are required to qualify. These products pay directly to the member at the time of claim, are non-taxable, and are paid over and above negotiated benefits. Coverage is voluntary, and once purchased, the rates remain the same unless the member decides to change their coverage.
Available Coverage Options:
- Supplemental Disability:
- Additional disability benefits can be chosen, ranging from $300 per month to $2,000 per month in $100 increments.
- Coverage starts from day one for off-the-job accidents and after a 7-day consecutive wait for sickness.
- Critical Illness:
- Coverage options range from $5,000 to $30,000, with a lump sum payment upon confirmed diagnosis.
- No health questions are required to qualify.
- Coverage includes internal cancer, strokes, heart attacks, open heart surgery, benign brain tumors, and more.
- Family members can be covered, and children are covered for free up to age 26 if you purchase coverage for yourself.
- Accident Coverage:
- Coverage for accidental injuries, 24/7.
- Family coverage is available, with children covered up to age 26.
- Benefits include hospital stays, broken bones, follow-up visits, physical therapy, accidental death coverage, and more.
- Hospital Coverage:
- Two plans are offered:
- Level 1: $1,000 for the first 24 hours of admission, daily benefit, and $500 per surgery.
- Level 2: $2,000 for the first 24 hours of admission.
- Both plans include outpatient benefits and coverage for routine colonoscopies and pregnancy.
- Family coverage is available, with children covered up to age 26.
- Two plans are offered:
- Permanent Whole Life Coverage:
- Can be purchased with no health questions, and the rate remains locked into retirement.
- Spouse and children can also be covered.
Claims are paid within 5 to 7 days once all paperwork is received, and payments are made by direct deposit.
